For the First time the history of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the museum will conduct its Hall of Fame inductions in the city that hosts the museum. The twenty-second annual induction ceremony took place at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City on March 12, 2007, but this coming May the ceremony will take place in downtown Cleveland. The Rock Hall Board of Trustees has been working in conjunction with the Downtown Cleveland Alliance to bring the festivities back to Cleveland.
The Downtown Cleveland Alliance is the not-for-profit advocate dedicated to building a dynamic downtown. As part of their mission to work with a variety of stakeholders for downtown growth, they have aligned themselves with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to help bring the Ceremony to Cleveland.
The Committee has begun shopping for places in the downtown area for the actual ceremony to be held and information will soon be hitting the media about the Inductee Ceremony Weekend that will be known as ROCK STARS OVER CLEVELAND.
Festivities for the weekend include
- New Exhibit unvieling in the Rock Hall
- Parade
- City Block Party
- Downtown Ceremony and Live Outside Performances
